Moved in

WE ACTUALLY STAYED AT THE NEW HOUSE! It wasn't easy, but somehow we managed. I still cant find my toothbrush.... You know what that means? Yes, Angela had to share! I hooked up the window air unit, and put it in the bedroom. I had a little trepidation about it working or not. But, it did work, and was a welcome relief to this crappy weather. Today they expect it to be over 90, and the humidity is way up there too. The Iron conspiracy: I falsely reported that the iron and board were out at the farm on August 28th. As it turns out, the Iron is at the new house, but the board is hiding somewhere in Delavan. Since I can not lay blame on Angela, (You married people know why) I will continue my search for the real killers..

Mower Saga

Well its bad enough to have to clean the new house... But for the last 3 days I have found myself cleaning the old house. We had a BIG open house this weekend, and we wanted everything to be just right. Not much remains in the house. We have been sleeping there up till now, but I think that will change tonight. Angela took the ironing board and iron to the new house yesterday, so I was in a panic. She also took one of the toothbrushes and all of the bathroom soap. Lets just say that it was an interesting morning! The Mower Saga: Just when you think that all things are going good.... Me and Ang were ready to strangle each other yesterday over some trivial thing. I decided to go out and mow. About 2 hours in, I noticed that one side was cutting lower than the other. It was giving my yard a nice "Terraced" effect. I got off and found that one of the back tires was flat. This was actually a relief! Far better that it was a tire and not some "Nano-Bobulator refractor" that will cost me a grand. (I just made up the "refractor" part, for those who don't know what sarcasm is.) New contractor Alert: A Fencing contractor is now being called into the fold. More details as they come in. Current contractors include: Plumber, Electrician, Landscaper, Kitchen/Bath designer, Flooring. That's not too bad I guess. I can say that... I don't see the bills!

Kelly screwed it all up

Hey I was right for 2 out of 4. And if Kelly had not won immunity all night, then my plan would have worked out perfectly!

Survivor Picks

I now am officially ready to move in... I had to move my computer over to the new house. I don't even know what to do back in Delavan without it! I turned on the television last night.... Gasp! Speaking of Television, I am going to make my survivor picks right now. Kelly gets the boot on the first council. Then Susan and Rich gang up on Rudy since he would beat either of them if the jury has to decide. With just Susan and Rich to choose from, the jury awards it to Rich. All because half of the jury hates Susan's accent. Pretty good huh?

Fridge Doors

I really thought we were going to move in today! But as fate would have it, we are still in Delavan for another few days. One reason. I didn't get the shower installed. In fact... I turned a screw so hard on the mounting bracket that it sheared off! Smooth move! I also spent 3 hours changing the direction of the doors on the Fridge. I seem to remember doing this once at Walton's, but that was in a controlled environment. It gets a little trickier when you have food in the fridge and Mr. Newt climbing on my back. All this time spent on the Fridge took away from moving important things like the Ironing board!

Fairbury Beer Tent 2000

Bill came over and helped me move the Fridge. Town wide garage sales in Delavan. We made a heap of cash this year! It was almost enough to cover the plumbers bill! Easy come, easy go... BEER TENT: Went up to Fairbury for the final night of the famous beer tent! Ang was riding up in Galesburg so I thought this would be my chance to see the boys. Met up with the Leahy brothers and Meredith. We had a great time and saw several faces. Hung out with Erin for a good part of the night. She was sure that we have not seen each other since my wedding. Some friends we are! Of course, everybody wants to hear about the Rathbuns, and Don is a popular subject as well.

New Tools

Added another tool to the collection. A gas powered Hedge Trimmer. You want to talk about sore! That thing is heavy, and I was reaching out full arm lengths with it. I got halfway around the hedge and decided to finish another night. Started knocking down the row of tall weeds and shrubs that ran the length of the backyard. We have a beautiful view, and this is going to make it look better. I decided to go home early, we have a garage sale this weekend, and it should be a Big one!

Babies Everywhere!

Bad news keeps pouring in... Ang got a call from one of her friends today... Her friend announced that she is 2 months pregnant! This would not be so bad but it seems like everyone is pregnant! Tomi and Jeff are 2 months along. Chris and Crystal are 7 weeks pregnant. Rich and Vanessa are like 3 months along. And now Bill and Sandra are 2 months along. I have let all the guys know that this kind of peer pressure never worked on me, so they can just quit trying! The Mower Saga Continues... When we bought the farm last month, we got a "Yard-Man" from Wal-mart for a pretty good deal. Well, a "Yard-Man" was not adequate for the project I had... Too bad they didn't have a "Farm-Man"! The Wal-Mart mower died after 4 hours. Next we went to the International dealer and got a VERY large "Cub Cadet". It was used, but has a 48" mowing deck. This mower kicked "but" all around! I mowed the whole yard with no incident. When I finished, I noticed a little oil spotting on the garage floor. So I sent it back to get fixed before we would purchase it. (There is a little more to this story, but its embarrassing and I don't want to get into it!) In the meantime we were given a replacement by the dealer to use. As fate would have it... I somehow screwed up the replacement. I mowed the whole yard again, and in the last minutes something started shaking and making noise. I looked under the machine and found that the "Thing that holds the drive shaft in place" was cracked and broken in half. Who knows what will happen now!

1st blogged event at Planetstahl

Capped off the root cellar with a custom piece of concrete. I made a mold and poured a slab with some Glass cubes in it. It is awesome! The cellar now had light pouring into it during the day, and the Mice cannot get in. This was the first thing we did today, and it went perfectly! I thought this would be a precursor to the days events, but I was GROSSLY mistaken. I bought a Makita Reciprocating saw (Saws-All) today for the Chicken Coup... I was so proud. All I could think about was Uncle "Mary". Got rid of the old Chicken Coup at the farm. I decided to knock it off the concrete pad, heap it up and burn it. Well the first part went fine. But the burning almost had me calling 911. I am dead serious when I say that you could not get within 30 to 40 feet of thing when it was burning. It was hot, and out of control!!!!! A huge ball of fire that almost reached out and touched the tree next to the house. Thank God that it started to wane after about 10 minutes! Neighbors were making special trips by my house to get a good look at the "Kids" who moved in! The tree had sap oozing out of the side near the fire... So it wasn't impressed either! The plumber has had to make 3 trips out to the house to fix a leak that keeps popping up in the basement. I almost got electrocuted today when I grabbed the copper pipe and started getting a Shocking sensation! Later Linda and Ang informed me of fading/blinking lights that they had been seeing. Its good to be informed people, please tell me these things sooner! We picked up another cat. This time I could justify it. We have seen all the "Tell-Tale" signs of Mice in the kitchen (That would be dropping to the "Un-Educated"). The cat is the same one that we brought back to our old house last month. He should do fine now. By the way... His name in "Mr. Newt". Please open your hearts (And Wallets) to Mr. Newt. (Mr. Newt is a compassionate conservative, and is still working on his personal "Contract with America") And just so my Punk brother Dan knows... I do listen to other things than 80's stuff. I have been playing stuff by a band named "Guster". So there!
